Sclerotherapy has been used in the treatment of varicose veins for over 150 years. Modern techniques including ultrasonographic guidance and foam sclerotherapy are the latest developments in this evolution. Injecting the unwanted veins with a sclerosing solution causes the target vein to immediately shrink, and then dissolve over a period of weeks as the body naturally absorbs the treated vein. Schlerotherapy is a minimallyinvasive procedure taking only about ten minutes to perform. The downtime is minimal.

After sclerotherapy you will be able to resume your regular daily activities. Walking is encouraged.

Insurance coverage for sclerotherapy varies. If your varicose veins ar e causing medical problems such as pain or chronic swelling, your insurance may offer reimbursement. If you are pursuing sclerotherapy for cosmetic purposes only, your insurance carrier most likely will not provide coverage. You should discuss your concerns with your doctor. If necessary we will help you contact your insurance company to have coverage questions answered accurately.
